I see a lot of uproar about non-US citizens having their wagers cancelled by sportsbook.com, et al., but not a peep about sportingbet.com voiding the same pending wagers of their US clients. Am I the only US bettor that got fucked over by sportingbet.com?

I posted this yesterday ,

I posted this earlier and had no problem with a withdrawal from betwwts.com so they are still solid at least today. They have always been a solid book,I just wanted to know if this is true or not.customer service said no,but i remember speaking to customer service to bos the day before the bottom falling out.I never thought much of bos but betwwts will be sorely missed.is this true about the us customers?

my second post is a letter from sportingbetplc, seems like the companies listed on the stock market are the one pulling out?

important announcement concerning betWWTS.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very important announcement concerning betWWTS.com

Guys - BetCorp who owns betWWTS, betbet, BetHoldem, etc will be pulling out of the US Market.

I need to make a few things clear.

1. The betWWTS banners will remain up until the end of October because we are contractually obligated.

2. I have learned from some very trustworthy sources that betbet and WWTS will be sold off from BetCORP and will go private so they can remain, however that will not be the first thing that happens but will hopefully be the end result.

3. BetCORP is a public traded company and I have explained that all public companies have more risk and because of the board of directors have to look out for the stockholders - they all follow each other.

BetCORP has ZERO debt on the books, unlike Leisure, Party Gaming, etc. Your money will be safe and money in not an issue.

BetCORP will be pulling from the US presumably tomorrow (when Bush signs bill). They will not accept any more US depositers after this time. They may continue to accept active US bettors wagers but they will make another announcement on Monday, most likely

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?

The bottom line until they are sold off - WWTS will no longer be a viable option for US players

HAVE I PULLED MY MONEY?

I have left some money in there but I have requested to pull some of it?

ARE YOU SCREWED?

No, this is not BoS. This is a company that will do anything they can do remain a profitable company. They will pay off their debts

SHOULD I PULL MY MONEY?

This is a decision for you to make. I believe you will have time ragrdless if they make an announcement or not, however it's your money and I wanted to let you know ASAP in case you are not comfortable. You will not get screwed but I do not recommend leaving a lot of money in there. If anyone has any problems - email me and I will try and help.

WHAT ABOUT BETHOLDEM?

BetHoldem software provider has also pulled out. Until they find a new software provider I would classify them in the same boat.

The most important thing is - I wanted everyone to know.

I can promise you that NO reputable private held company is pulling out. Bet Jamaica, Greek, Cris, Pinny, etc all will be remaining as is.

Important Announcement Concerning your PlayersOnly Account

With the recent passing of the law effecting financial institutions' transactions with online gaming companies, PlayersOnly's parent company, Sportingbet PLC, has decided to stop taking wagers from customers in the US effective immediately.

So does this mean you can't bet on sports or play Blackjack online at PlayersOnly anymore? HELL NO.

Sportingbet PLC has sold PlayersOnly to the existing management team and a group of investors who are continuing to run PlayersOnly just as always...Scratch that, perhaps even better than before.

It's biz as usual , so get your cash ready 'cause we're offering a SPECIAL 10% reload bonus on all depositing methods this weekend.

Your transactions remain secure, your details completely confidential and your account safe.

And to celebrate the change of ownership we're going to send you a special branded gift from our warehouse when you deposit. What's the catch? Deposit

Magilla: your posts were not merged to hide anything (I'm the one who merged them) but because they were duplicates of information already found in ongoing threads. We try to keep the clutter down as much as possible.

I can't count on both hands how many threads I've merged the past two days ...

These responses have absolutely no relevance to the original post.

This is the first I'm hearing of this. Please give me a little time to investigate. There's not much I can do on a Friday night at midnight, but I will at least look into the matter as best I can then fire off some inquiries in the morning.

Thanks.

The Sportingbet family tree was very confusing before all of this, and even worse now.

Sportingbet.com is the London-based parent book of the Sportingbet PLC company. This is the book I am referring to. They have closed US accounts, just as StanJames, Bet365 and other UK books have done. The difference in the case of Sportingbet.com is that they cancelled all pending wagers for which they had heavy liability. It remains unclear whether they may have even selectively voided potential winners while grading known losers. That would be outright fraud. In contrast, the reputable UK books honored everything and just ceased accepting further transactions. Nothing in the Safe Port Act would change the legality of bets already made. Either they were illegal all along or they weren't; no language in the bill has any bearing on this.

Sportingbet PLC is the broader corporation which owned Sportsbook.com, Sportsbetting.com, PlayersOnly, Hollywood and dozens of other US-focused, Costa Rican-based books. As has been well documented, these were divested and continue serving US clients. Non-US clients of these books have been transferred to Sports.com and all pending wagers have been honored. There is no reason US clients shut out of Sportingbet.com couldn't receive a similar arrangement and have their accounts transferred to one of the newly independant US-facing books. Unfortunately, reason and fairness are completely lacking in this corrupt organization.

Ricky:

Just trying to get this sorted ... you had an account at Sportingbet.com and are now shut out, is that right? What, if any, sportsbook did they move your account to? If they haven't moved it at all, but have cancelled your wagers, what have you been told in terms of withdrawing your balance?

If you have any correspondence you can share, but don't want to post it here, can you contact me at tanya@therx.com and I'll see what I can do? We've had great success with Sportsbook.com today, and will do what we can to clarify your situation as well.

Hollywood is unusual. I withdrew on Friday, but of course with their stupid EFS processor they can't process it until Monday. I can still login to my account and called the customer service manager today. He knew about the Act but seemed less well informed about Sportingbet and their sale agreement that I am. The sale should result in my non-US account being closed but he gave my a shaggy dog story about 270 days and being private but business was normal.

Sportingbet closed my account. I called and they said to expect funds via neteller Monday. Hollywood told me that they were not part of the sale and that they operated independently from sportingbet and/or sportsbook.com so the sale nor the bill changed anything about them. They said it was business as usual. I thought that Hollywood was purchased by Sportingbet a few years ago but I guess I was wrong. Anyway, thought this might help.

We're told that since Hollywood is a licensee of Sportingbet, rather than outright owned, they are unaffected by the sale and it should be business as usual.

when the initial announcement came out about the sportingbet plc sale, i didn't know it was to the existing management group. that's terrible; they would have been the ones who cancelled pending wagers (it wouldnt have been the "owners") & had the gall to turn around and offer signup/reload bonuses. i shouldnt be shocked (as theyve stolen more than $2k from me over the past few years), but i am.

good luck to anyone tangled up with those illogical bozos.

If true, that begs the question of who owns hollywood. Also, if they are a licensee, is sportingbet still making money from that and how does that fit in for sportingtbet legally? I had always thoight that hollywood was owned by sportingbet.

I've made this request of all of our sponsors. These requests went out after business hours on Friday, so we have to assume we can expect nothing until at least tomorrow.

Thanks!
